Laurie Alvandian is an Armenian-American librarian who moved to Armenia in 2014. She currently serves as Director of AUA's AGBU Papazian Library. Over her years in Armenia, she has implemented several projects aimed at redefining the role of libraries such as ‘Little Free Libraries in Armenia,’ ‘Libraries are for Everyone,’ and ‘(De)Construct the Library.' She has worked with organizations such as the National Library of Armenia and Children of Armenia Fund, focusing on strengthening ties between Armenia and the global library field, increasing opportunities for professional development, and promoting modern librarianship practices. She has written on topics such as libraries and democracy, community development, and the state of Armenia’s libraries for publications such as EVN Report and The Armenian Weekly. She earned her Master of Science in Information and Library Science from Pratt Institute in 2012.
