
Khachatur Gasparyan, Ph.D., has served as Director of the Seda Ghazarian Mental Health Foundation since 2020, following a decade as Chief Psychologist at the "Intra" Mental Health Centre. In 2007, he founded the Department of Medical Psychology at Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU), which he chaired until 2025. He lectures at YSMU and the American University of Armenia, and is Secretary General of the Armenian Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Gasparyan holds a doctorate and master's degree in psychology from M. Lomonosov Moscow State University, with postgraduate study in psychiatric epidemiology at Columbia University and a fellowship at Oxford's Refugee Studies Programme. He has authored over seventy scientific publications on psychotraumatology, genocide trauma ("Komitas Syndrome"), and the psychological impacts of war, along with twelve books in Armenian, Russian, and English. His work is dedicated to healing intergenerational trauma and advancing mental health care in Armenia.
