Dr. Jean-François Caron

Interim Chair of the MPA & MAIRD Programs/ Visiting Professor

Dr. Jean-François Caron is a political scientist who specializes in political theory, namely with questions associated with multiculturalism, the ethics of warfare and political violence, the social contract theory and authoritarianism. He is also specializing in Central Asian politics. Dr. Caron received his Ph.D in Political Science in 2010 from the Université Laval, before pursing postgraduate studies at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. He first served as an Assistant Professor at the Université de Moncton, before joining Nazarbayev University in 2015 as an Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations. He is the 2025-26 C. Judson King Endowed Professor at AUA and is acting as interim Chair of the Master in Public Affairs and the Master of International Relations and Diplomacy.
