Dr. Hayk Kamalyan received his Ph.D. in economics from Goethe University Frankfurt. Prior to that, he worked as an economist at the Central Bank of Armenia. Dr. Kamalyan joined the American University of Armenia as a full-time faculty member in 2020. Currently, he is an assistant professor/scholar in residence at the Manoogian Simone College of Business and Economics and a teaching fellow at CERGE-EI Prague. His research interest lies in macroeconomics, primarily in the fields of monetary economics and international macroeconomics. His ongoing research projects include, among others, studying the effects of macroeconomic uncertainty in emerging economies and possible asymmetries in the propagation of macroeconomic shocks over the business cycle.
