Artashes Tonoyan brings to his teaching 20+ years of executive and leadership experience in entrepreneurial companies having undertaken numerous executive roles as either CEO, Private Equity (PE) Investor, Lender, Sell-side and Fund Raising Adviser.

He took up a position of CEO of GoodCredit (www.goodcredit.am), a start-up specialist non-bank financial institution in SME/micro- and consumer finance space back in 2012. In 3 years, he scaled it up and successfully sold it to a strategic investor (one of the biggest European digital consumer lender - 4finance.com) and where he was retained as a CEO (and later combined Board's Chairman role) to lead the digital transformation initiative.

Before GoodCredit, Artashes Tonoyan worked for 6 years as a banker at EBRD, based in London/Yerevan, in the Small-cap PE team (up to USD 10 million of growth investments for minority positions in frontier markets of Caucasus and Central Asia). He has experience in full PE cycle: origination, due diligence and valuation, structuring and closing, post-investment management and value creation (including holding of Board seats) and exits.

Before joining the EBRD in 2006, he was involved with development and economic policy design and implementation as a public servant and later as a consultant. He has extensive experience in the economic policy field such as with competition policy and consumer lending regulation issues.

His interests lie in such sectors as fintech, banking retail/FMCG/HORECA, telecommunications, real estate and building materials sectors.

  • MBA from American University of Armenia (2000),
  • Post-graduate degree in Competition Policy from Institute of Economy and Management (2001)
  • Masters in Finance from London Business School (2011).
